Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring to class?

For your first class, I suggest that you buy nothing and use the class mats, blocks and straps; just see if you enjoy it.

If you want to practice regularly, you may wish to buy your own sticky yoga mat, yoga brick and D-ring yoga strap; though you are welcome to keep using the class equipment for as long as you like.

Where are classes held?

The Happy Yogi Studio is above the new QVS-vets building in Quarrington, next to The Four Seasons garden centre and opposite the golf driving range. There is ample parking in front of the building, and the entrance to the studio is through the side-gate and half-way down the building.

London Road,  Quarrington, Sleaford, Lincolnshire. NG34 8NY.

Can I pay on the day?

All classes are set-up for online booking, and booking is usually necessary to ensure you have a place. However, if you can't book online, please contact me and I can save you a place and you can pay on the day. If you wish to pay by cash, please ensure you arrive at least five minutes before the start of class.

Am I too old to practise yoga?

Short answer: Heck, no!

Yoga is beneficial for everyone; exercises can be recommended for anyone regardless of their age, health, weight or any normally limiting restraints for other forms of exercise.

Please check the 'Fitness Requirements' tab of each class in the booking system to see if it will be suitable for you, or contact me to discuss your individual situation or to recommend a class.

Which styles of yoga do you teach?

The short answer: elements of Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Kundalini and Restorative.

The long answer: I use a combination of many styles of yoga to create intelligently sequenced classes that loosen up the whole body, combined with strength-building exercises to build a solid core. I also like to use props such as bolsters, bricks, yoga straps, a Feetup stool for safe inversions, and a Limitless Wheel for strength building and deeper backbends.

Which yoga teaching qualification do you hold?

RYT200 Yoga Teacher and Yoga Alliance certified since 2015.

How much does private tuition cost?

For the initial call to discuss your needs, preparing an individualised class and teaching your first class in your home or at The Happy Yogi Studio - £40.

If you would like to book a regular appointment, the hourly rate is negotiable based on time of day, distance to travel and number of sessions booked.

Are these classes suitable for men?

Absolutely. There's an increase in the number of men doing yoga nationally, and this is reflected in classes at The Happy Yogi Studio.  Averaged over all classes, male attendance is approximately 20%.

Are children welcome?

Kid's yoga is a very different discipline to the style of yoga taught at The Happy Yogi, so it would not be suitable for most children. However, a small number of children who have studied Kids Yoga and wanted to progress have been allowed to attend classes along with a participating parent. Please contact The Happy Yogi before booking to discuss whether these classes would be suitable.

Alternatively, another local yoga teacher, Jo Moules, runs classes specifically for children and is highly recommended. Click here to go to her website.

Can I pay for a block of classes?

You can book and pay for one class at a time, or you can budget for your yoga classes by pre-paying for a block of five, ten or fifteen class credits, which you can then use to pay for each class that you book.

These class credits do not have to be used against a single class, you can use them against any of the classes in the course schedule on any date. So if you fancy coming to two or three classes a week, your class credits can be used for all of these bookings, and you automatically receive a discount against the cost of the class. The more classes you pre-pay for, the greater the discount.

Current pre-pay offers:

Pre-pay for five classes and receive 5% discount.
Pre-pay for ten classes and receive 7.5% discount.

How does private tuition work?

Private tuition consists of an initial call to discuss your needs, then a personalised class is prepared. The class is taught at your premises or at The Happy Yogi Studio and you will receive a class plan so that you may practise it again whenever you wish.
